The Brain Injury Association of Nova Scotia (BIANS) is a non-profit organization working to enhance the quality of life for survivors and their families, with a number of local chapters and support groups.

Capital Health Addictions and Mental Health Program

The Capital Health Mental Health Program provides adult services for mental health and addiction. You may be referred for program services by your family physician. In case of emergency mental health needs, you may contact the Mental Health Mobile Crisis Team at (902) 429-8167/ Toll free 1-888-429-8167 or proceed to the nearest emergency room.

Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia

The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia leads in eliminating heart disease and stroke and reducing their impact through the advancement of research and its application, the promotion of healthy living and advocacy. They provide information on stroke and heart disease, including a Heart and Stroke health directory.

Canadian Psychology Association

The Canadian Psychology Association is the national association for psychologists in Canada. The association provides Psychology Works Fact Sheets on their website with trustworthy information on psychology as related to specific topics or health conditions.

American Psychology Association

The American Psychological Association (APA) is the national association of psychologists in the United States. The Society for Clinical Neuropsychology (Division 40) is a division of the APA interested in the study of brain-behaviour relationships and its application to human problems. They provide information on the speciality training recommended to practice neuropsychology, as well as brochures with guides for patients and families for both pediatric and adult neuropsychology.
